School Murals in Melbourne & Victoria
Interactive public art made with students, teachers and community groups
As a Melbourne mural artist, I paint interactive murals in schools and community spaces across Melbourne, regional Victoria and NSW.
Each project is developed in collaboration with students, staff and community members, bringing their ideas and stories into large-scale public artworks that reflect the people who use the space. Wherever possible, participants take a hands-on role in the painting, so the finished mural genuinely belongs to them.
Primary School Murals
Hands-on murals painted with students across Victoria and NSW
A primary school mural brings colour and life to a campus, and it's even better when the students help make it. I involve them at whatever level suits your school, from a workshop that shapes the mural concept to hands-on painting sessions where they bring the artwork to life themselves. It can sound intimidating, but I've built many programs this way, and I always pair an engaging student workshop with a professional finished result.
Secondary School Murals
Student ideas turned into a lasting mural in Victoria and NSW
School murals are a great way to activate an underutilised area or add the final touches to a newly developed space, and to tell a story along the way. For secondary schools, I always begin with a workshop with a focus group of students to gather their ideas on the themes of the artwork. Those ideas shape the core visual of the mural, so it reflects the students of that moment and gives them a real connection to the work and a core memory to keep.

Painting Alongside Students
Highlights from school murals across Melbourne and Australia
I've been lucky enough to work with hundreds of students across Melbourne and right around Australia, teaching them mural painting skills along the way. Plenty of them have also helped shape the concepts, with ideas that ended up on the wall. Here's a small selection of highlight projects and fun moments from the murals we've painted together.

How much does a mural cost?
No two walls are the same. Some are raw, some are primed, some are brick and some are flat, so there’s no set price. The cost depends on the condition of the wall and the details of the project. That’s why I do free quotes with no obligation, so you can see the cost for yourself. Link: Read more about what affects mural cost.Do I need to prepare my wall?
If a wall is very dirty, it may need a pressure wash and some prep before I start. If that’s needed, I’ll factor it into your quote. Otherwise, you’re welcome to provide the wall clean. About 90% of the time the wall is fine, and I cover light prep free of charge. What do I need to provide to get a quote?
Everything I need is covered in my mural quote form, so there’s nothing to prepare beforehand. Fill it out and I’ll reply within 24 hours. We’re a school. Do you have a Working With Children Check?

No problem you can use this website for inspiration choosing projects that you favour or if you’d like to reach out we can have a discussion and I can give you some options I’d suggest. How long does a mural take?
It depends on the size, surface, design and weather. Your quote includes a timeline. What if I want more changes to the design?
Your quote includes one major and two minor revisions. If a project needs more than that, I’ll let you know before any extra work begins. What if it rains?
For outdoor murals I plan dates with the weather in mind, and I’ll reschedule if conditions aren’t right for paint.Do I need permission to paint a mural?
If you rent, you’ll usually need your landlord’s consent, and some locations, such as heritage areas or public walls, can need council approval. Check early, and mention it when you get in touch.
