School Mural Creates a Lasting Impact for Students
Created for Keilor Views Primary School
This school mural combines themes of education, nature and imagination to create a vibrant artwork that reflects the environment and community surrounding the school.
The central feature of the mural is an oversized open book, representing learning and the role education plays in shaping young minds. Flowing out from the pages are two hero images, creating a sense of knowledge, creativity and ideas taking flight. The composition was designed to be engaging for students while also creating a visually striking feature for parents, teachers and the wider community.
The mural combines realistic spray paint techniques with detailed line work, giving the artwork a balance between highly rendered imagery and more graphic, illustrative elements. This combination creates different points of interest for students and allows the mural to be appreciated from both close up and from the road.
The existing raw brickwork was intentionally left visible throughout the design, helping the school mural complement the existing architecture rather than completely covering it. The result is a colourful and engaging education-themed mural in Melbourne's west that feels connected to its surroundings while creating a lasting visual feature for the students who experience it every day.
