Canvas Graffiti Workshops
Explore Street Art Through Your Own Artwork
These hands-on workshops introduce students to graffiti-inspired artwork through lettering, composition, colour and creative experimentation.
Students create their own canvas artwork while learning about the techniques and visual influences that have shaped Melbourne's street art culture. Rather than following a single finished design, students are encouraged to develop their own ideas and explore how different shapes, colours, letters and marks can come together to create a strong composition.
The workshop is designed to be accessible to students with different levels of artistic experience, giving everyone the opportunity to create something that feels personal to them.
What's Included
Canvas for each student
All paints, brushes and materials required
Drop sheets and materials for protecting the workspace
Printed reference and inspiration materials
Presentation from a working artist sharing my experience and creative journey
Guidance throughout the creative and painting process
What Students Explore
Students are introduced to the fundamentals that help make street art visually effective, including:
Lettering and graffiti-inspired forms
Colour selection and combinations
Composition and placement
Developing an individual style
Turning initial ideas into finished artwork
Program Structure
This workshop generally works well as a two to four session program, giving students enough time to develop their concepts, experiment with techniques and complete a finished canvas artwork.
The program can be adjusted to suit your school's timetable, year level and needs, with sessions adapted or restructured to fit within existing school programs and available class time.
A Practical Introduction to Street Art
The workshop gives students an opportunity to experience some of the creative processes used in professional street art and mural painting while working on a manageable canvas format.
It can be delivered as a standalone workshop or incorporated into a broader school art program, creative project or themed learning experience.

Lukas Kasper
Inspiring the Next Generation Through Art
WWCC Certified - 10+ Years Experience
I turned my passion for art into a full-time creative career, working across mural painting, street art, design and community projects. I love sharing that experience with young people and showing them the creative career pathways that can come from pursuing their own ideas.
For more than 10 years, I’ve worked with schools, community groups and youth organisations delivering workshops, murals and creative programs. I hold a current Working With Children Check and specialise in creating safe, supportive and engaging environments where students can experiment, contribute their ideas and build confidence through art.

Want to see what a school mural project looks like from start to finish? I documented the complete painting process of a mural at Copperfield College Kings Park, capturing the artwork as it comes to life on the wall.
Watch the full-length video to see the scale, painting techniques and finishing process in real time, and get a better understanding of what goes into creating a professional school mural.
