Sunflower Mural in Wodonga

In 2021 going into 2022 I began a 6 month full time mural artist contract with Wodonga City Council, during this time I was to build each and every project from the ground up including all paper work, permits, designs, confirmations, paint sourcing, painting itself and all other duties it takes to not only create but to facilitate a large scale mural project. During this time I created “Sun Daze” which became one of the 10 murals in town.

The inspiration of the flower began with the colour of the wall itself, when the clients painted this yellow years before the mural was an idea the community seemed to be quite shocked thinking this stand out yellow was an eye sore but as time went on this yellow was embraced and I wanted to continue this narrative by painting a beautiful big sunflower and with this mural being right near a round about I wanted to guide the viewer/customers eye to the front door so I added my tradition street art styling pattern work towards the front of the building and the flower itself.

The clients for this mural where a little reluctant with the concept design as they had faced questioning in the past but with a bit of reassurance they confirmed the go ahead and now this mural has become one of the most popular in town with it being featured on many different accounts on the news along with other publications and first hand as I hear about this flower mural every single time I visit back to Wodonga for more projects!
