Skateboarding Knowledge Combined With Street Art

I have been skateboarding for most of my life, so when it comes to painting skateparks, I understand the space from the perspective of someone who actually uses them. Over the years I have been commissioned by councils and local organisations to transform multiple skateparks, developing an approach that considers far more than simply how the artwork looks.

Skatepark murals need to work alongside the way the space is used. Some areas of a skatepark experience constant contact from boards, shoes and wheels, while others can become hazardous when certain paints or finishes are used on high-traffic riding surfaces. I have seen first-hand how poorly considered artwork can wear quickly or create slippery surfaces in colder conditions, so I approach each project with the practical realities of skateboarding in mind.

My designs often draw from my street art background, using flowing linework, bold shapes and selective colour to complement the existing skatepark and its surrounding environment. I look at the architecture, materials, landscape and colours already present before developing artwork that feels integrated into the space rather than simply painted over it.

This combination of lifelong skateboarding experience, mural expertise and street art practice allows me to create skatepark murals that are visually distinctive while being carefully considered for the people who will actually use them. I work with councils, skatepark organisations and community groups across Melbourne and Australia to transform skateparks into more colourful, engaging and unique public spaces.
