A Community Mural in Melbourne’s West

Celebrating the People, Wildlife and Character of Brimbank

Created for a much-loved local coffee spot, West Together is a colourful celebration of the people, wildlife and everyday moments that make Melbourne’s west special. Commissioned by Brimbank City Council’s Eco Development team, the mural brings together familiar local references and playful details that reflect the character of this community meeting place.

Look a little closer and you’ll spot a kingfisher, Cunningham skink and galah woven into a lively scene inspired by the surrounding area. There’s a bicycle representing the locals who regularly pass through, bunting featuring imagery from the familiar #WeAreBrimbank shopfront signage, and a cheeky galah flying off with a giant letter ‘W’.

That ‘W’ is more than just part of the mural. It echoes the sculptural letter perched on top of the building, a recognisable landmark at the heart of this local business and community hub. By bringing that familiar symbol into the artwork, the mural connects the building, its visitors and the wider neighbourhood through one playful visual story.

Painted in my bold, flowing street art style, West Together is designed to do more than brighten a wall. It celebrates local identity, gives people something to discover each time they visit, and adds a little extra colour to everyday life in Brimbank. Whether you’re stopping for a coffee, meeting a friend or simply passing by, the aim is simple: make you look twice and leave you with a smile.
