UooUoo Public Art Project for The Royal Children's Hospital

A Colourful Public Art Sculpture for Melbourne's UooUoo Art Trail

In 2020, The Royal Children's Hospital celebrated its 150th anniversary with the RCH Foundation's Me and UooUoo public art trail, delivered with the support of Wild in Art. The project brought together emerging and established Australian artists, Victorian businesses and the wider community to raise funds for the hospital while transforming public spaces across Melbourne and Geelong.

As part of the project, 100 blank UooUoo sculptures were given to artists to transform into individual artworks. These colourful and unusual sculptures were then installed throughout Melbourne and Geelong, appearing in streets, laneways, parks and other public spaces as part of a large-scale public art trail.

I was invited to create my own UooUoo, giving me the opportunity to take my street art-inspired approach away from walls and onto a three-dimensional artwork. After completing the sculpture, it was installed in St Kilda, where the finished artwork became part of the public trail and could be experienced by visitors alongside the work of other Australian artists.
