Kingfisher Courtyard Mural in Fitzroy, Melbourne
A Custom Native Bird Mural for a Residential Courtyard
Painted in the back courtyard of a home in Fitzroy, Melbourne, this mural features a kingfisher set against a subtle, traditional-style background. The homeowners wanted the bird to be the main focus while keeping the overall artwork understated and allowing the existing brickwork to remain visible.
Rather than covering the entire wall, I selectively painted parts of the background, using soft fades to let the brick show through and blend naturally with the artwork. Paired with the kingfisher’s natural tones, this approach created a finish that feels both vibrant and restrained, bringing character to the courtyard without overwhelming the space.
Custom Courtyard Murals That Work With Your Home
Not every mural needs to cover an entire wall with bold colour. Selective painting can combine artwork with existing brick, texture and architectural features to create something that feels connected to the space.
I create custom residential murals across Melbourne, from detailed Australian wildlife and native birds to expressive street art and abstract designs. Whether you’re looking to bring a courtyard wall, garden space or outdoor entertaining area to life, each mural can be designed around your home and the look you want to achieve.
