Blue Wren Themed Mural on Henri’s Bakery

In 2021 going into 2022 I began a 6 month full time mural artist contract with Wodonga City Council, during this time I was to build each and every project from the ground up including all paper work, permits, designs, confirmations, paint sourcing, painting itself and all other duties it takes to not only create but to facilitate a large scale mural project. During this time I created “Wren & Friends” which became one of the 10 murals in town.

The inspiration for this mural began when viewing the site with all of its obstructions of pipes, poles, doors, windows etc and with it being what once was such a dull high traffic laneway I wanted to brighten it up completely with enough room for the design to be simple enough for the community to actually help paint it in also.

The subject of the Blue Wren was a no brainer as these beautiful little birds are hopping around in this area consistently and the local communities very fond opinion of them. For this process I went around town and photographed these little guys later placing them into a conceptual design to get approved and once it did we where off to the races on a 5 day project of realism, painting poles, large blocked areas and of course the community engagement day.
