Cockatoos of Castlemaine Public Art Mural
A 24-Metre Wildlife Mural in the Heart of Castlemaine
Commissioned by Mount Alexander Shire Council, Cockatoos of Castlemaine is a 24-metre-long mural bringing colour and character to Mechanics Lane in the centre of Castlemaine, regional Victoria. With complete creative freedom, I wanted to create an artwork that celebrated Australia's wildlife while giving this well-used public space a distinctive identity.
The design features local cockatoos brought to life through bold shapes, flowing linework and a carefully selected colour palette. Working around existing seating areas presented an interesting challenge, with the composition needing to flow across the long wall while working with the layout of the space. Rather than treating these obstacles as limitations, I incorporated the surrounding environment into the overall approach, creating a mural that feels connected to the laneway.

Celebrating Australian Wildlife Through Street Art
Combining my passion for animals and nature with my background in street art, this project brings together wildlife imagery and a more contemporary, graphic style. The result is a large-scale public artwork that adds vibrancy to a central community gathering place while celebrating the natural character of the region.
Projects like this are a great example of how council murals and public art can transform everyday spaces into memorable local landmarks. Whether it's a laneway, a town centre or a community hub, I enjoy creating artwork that gives people a reason to stop, look closer and connect with their surroundings.
I work with councils, businesses and community organisations across Melbourne and regional Australia to create custom public art murals inspired by local stories, wildlife and place.
