A Mural In Outback Australia

Category: Animals & Nature Murals

Travelling through on my way to Bourke to paint the Percy Hobson Water Tower mural with John Murray I stopped in at Lightning Ridge to paint a mural for “The Black Opal Motel” for this mural I took inspiration from the local wildlife along with the reflective colours seen within the beautiful black opal that The Ridge is well known for. This mural was painted along side two other smaller areas bringing vibrance and a unique look to the space. On closer inspection you’ll find your very own black opal in the eye like shapes.

This project was given a very simple brief with a few main key elements was firstly to bring life into the space this was done with the magpie seen on the left and secondly was to draw the viewers eye when passing by and that was accomplished with the vibrant atmosphere around the letters themselves getting that extra pop with the white line around the outside, if you’re ever passing through town you can’t miss it!

Location: Lightning Ridge, NSW
Medium: Acrylic & Spray Paint
