A Colourful Australian Wildlife Mural for Aged Care Courtyards
An aged care facility in the Albury-Wodonga region commissioned me to bring colour and life to two outdoor courtyards. The goal was to create inviting artworks that residents could enjoy looking at from their windows every day, adding a connection to nature through familiar Australian wildlife and native plants.
I based the mural designs around the region’s local flora and fauna, with the Eastern Rosella taking centre stage. Its vibrant feathers offered a natural starting point for a colourful composition, complemented by native flowers and a Blue Wren. Together, these elements create a lively scene that celebrates the wildlife found throughout north-east Victoria.
Nature-Inspired Murals for Aged Care and Community Spaces
When designing murals for aged care facilities, courtyards and shared spaces, I consider how the artwork will be experienced by the people who use the space every day. Colourful birds, recognisable wildlife and botanical details can bring otherwise plain walls to life and create a more engaging outlook for residents, visitors and staff.
