Sugar Glider Mural Street Art in Moe, Victoria

A Sugar Glider Mural for the Show Me Some Art Festival

Created in Moe, Victoria, for the 2022 Show Me Some Art Street Art Festival, this mural pays homage to the sugar glider through a playful mix of animal realism and imaginative street art. Inspired by the animal's sweet name, I chose a palette of candy-like colours to give the artwork a vibrant, distinctive personality.

The sugar glider provides the focal point, bringing a recognisable Australian animal into a bold mural composition that stands apart from traditional wildlife artwork. The project gave me an opportunity to combine detailed spray-paint techniques with the expressive visual language of street art.

Realistic Australian Wildlife Meets Psychedelic Street Art

My approach combines realistic spray-painted animal details with psychedelic colours, abstract forms and flowing patterns. This contrast allows the sugar glider to retain its character while the surrounding visuals create a more surreal, imaginative atmosphere.

Festival murals are an opportunity to experiment with colour, scale and unexpected combinations, bringing a fresh perspective to public spaces. Gliders reflects my approach to Australian wildlife art: taking inspiration from nature while pushing the imagery beyond realism through expressive street art and abstract design.
