A mural themed around local flora and fauna in the area of Bacchus Marsh

Platypus Alliance Mural

Category: Animals & Nature

A very special mural for a great cause this artwork was created to advocate for healthy river systems which will support viability of our platypus populations, as well as benefiting other native fauna and the local community. To begin this process I linked up with the Bacchus Marsh Platypus Alliance (BMPA) is a not-for-profit community association to put together a brief and general narrative they where looking to accomplish this in the end contained: Platypus, Bacchus Marsh Wattle, Growling Grass Frog, Purple Crowned Lorikeet, Spotted Pardalote, Damselfly, River Red Gum which all can be found Werribee River, Bacchus Marsh and this was the final result with an added spin.

Coming from a background in working with animals this was a very special project for me to be a part of and combined with my more vibrant street styling I managed to create a unique and story driven mural draws attention from afar, stands out from other nature murals and drives a narrative that makes the general public hopefully appreciate how beautiful the local environment is. I would have to say this combination of Flora & Fauna murals combined traditional street art styling has to be my favourite approach to public art.

This mural can be found on the swim centre right next to Peppertree Park where you can take a nice walk that follows this important river. To finish up the project we had artist talks and an information day where you could learn everything about the local plants and wildlife, all in all a wonderful experience to help make happen with the council and Platypus Alliance team.
