Mothers Instinct Mural

Category: Animals & Nature Murals

Commissioned by Brimbank City Council, this Melbourne mural was created to transform a quiet brick wall in Taylors Lakes Linear Park into a vibrant focal point for the community. As a Melbourne street artist, I always draw inspiration from the local environment, and during my visit to the park, I was immediately struck by the sight of black swans with their cygnets and ducks guiding their ducklings—a powerful image of motherhood and connection.

The peaceful interactions between families in the park—mothers sharing lunch with their children while admiring the birds—sparked the core theme for this mural: family, nurture, and unity.

Influenced by the park’s natural beauty, I incorporated native eucalyptus leaves, flowing linework, and my distinct visual style to create a dynamic yet calming composition. A soft white circular space at the center anchors the eye, surrounded by vibrant movement that reflects both the busyness and the harmony of family life.

As I painted, countless locals stopped to watch, share kind words, and tell me how much this artwork meant to them. What was once an overlooked wall has now become a celebrated part of the park—a place where children point and say, “Look at the pretty birdies!”

This public mural stands as a representation of the community itself: connected, caring, and full of life. It’s a piece of street art that invites people to slow down, reflect, and feel a sense of togetherness in their everyday environment.
