Lord Somers Camp & Powerhouse Exterior

Striking Melbourne Mural for Lord Somers Camp & Powerhouse

Melbourne Mural Artist – Lord Somers Camp & Powerhouse Exterior

Category: Unique Shapes

I had the opportunity to once again transform the exterior of the Lord Somers Camp & Powerhouse hub in Albert Park with a bold and contemporary mural integrating in their new branding elements.

This was actually the second time I’ve painted this building. The first project was a community engagement mural, created interactively with the patrons of the camp and hub. That project invited people into the process of mural painting, building a sense of ownership and pride in the space. The team at Lord Somers were so pleased with the outcome that they brought me back again to reimagine the exterior following their recent rebrand.

For this latest commission, I designed the artwork to reflect their refreshed identity while blending in elements of my own style – including bold eyes, flowing forms, and adaptive colours. The result is a mural that catches the eye from the road while also rewarding closer viewing with layers of detail. It revitalises the building exterior and creates a striking landmark along Lakeside Drive in Albert Park, all while complementing the natural surroundings.

Murals like this demonstrate how powerful public art can be in refreshing spaces and strengthening the connection between organisations and their community. If you’re looking to commission a mural in Melbourne that tells your story and transforms your space, I’d love to collaborate.

Community Engagement Mural – Celebrating Inclusivity at Lord Somers (Mural 1)

Before the rebrand project, I was invited to create an interactive community mural for Lord Somers Camp & Powerhouse. This artwork was designed to represent inclusivity, celebrating people from all different backgrounds and abilities who visit the camp.

The mural was painted collaboratively with patrons of the camp and hub, giving participants the chance to contribute directly to the creative process. This hands-on approach not only brought the community together but also reflected the organisation’s values of diversity, inclusion, and shared experience.

The final artwork became a vibrant expression of connection and belonging, setting the tone for the future transformation of the building.
