Galah Themed Mural

In 2021 going into 2022 I began a 6 month full time mural artist contract with Wodonga City Council, during this time I was to build each and every project from the ground up including all paper work, permits, designs, confirmations, paint sourcing, painting itself and all other duties it takes to not only create but to facilitate a large scale mural project. During this time I created “Sticky Beak” which became one of the 10 murals in town.

This mural was painted under the William Street Bridge as a part of a brand new development in town, this walkway is a part of a beautiful pathway that takes you all the way into town passing rivers, tree’s and other spaces alive with native flora and fauna. After researching the area I noticed quite alot of cheeky Galahs and pretty pink flowers so I decided to mesh these two together as they both complimented each other perfectly. To breath an extra piece of life into this piece I decided to go all in on my street art like pattern styling by putting eyes with reflections of the local area in the flowers and having every single element in the mural contain a pattern lively shape which brought a inviting and curious heartbeat to the space.

I love to approach murals focusing on both the viewers that will see it up close and from afar and this concept design was perfect for that when you get up close to the flowers and details you’ll notice little easter eggs like the reflections and from afar the galah itself is quite breathtaking.
