A natural pond critter inspired mural in Wodonga during my 6 month mural artist residency

In 2021 going into 2022 I began a 6 month full time mural artist contract with Wodonga City Council, during this time I was to build each and every project from the ground up including all paper work, permits, designs, confirmations, paint sourcing, painting itself and all other duties it takes to not only create but to facilitate a large scale mural project. During this time I created “Pond Pals” which became one of the 10 murals in town.

The concept for this mural was inspired by “Les Stone Park” along with the guidance that the main viewers of this mural would be of an older age so with this into consideration I decided to take a more subtle approach with colour usages inspired by the waterways browns, creams and blues complimented with hyper realism animals that where photographed from the park itself.

The great thing with public projects like this is meeting the people and establishing a relationship with those that will soon have your artwork become a part of their every day lives with these type of things taken into consideration I make sure each project has every feather, fade and line just right.

I’ve created a full length street art tour of the murals I created during my 6 month mural artist residency in Wodonga including this one which you can find it here: Lukas Kaspers Wodonga Street Art Tour.
